They are related in the sense that both deals with the mental and emotional states of an individual. They differ in a sense that psychiatry deals with the malfunctioning, while psychology deals with how they function. And in this regard, psychiatry is very much dependent upon psychology, in the same way that pathology (study of diseases) is dependent upon biology. more
